A. PASSWORD UPDATE
You can update or change your password at any time.
- Go to your ‘Settings’.
- Under ‘Security’, tap on ‘Change Password’ to update your current password.
B. MAXIMUM PASSWORD ATTEMPTS
For enhanced security, Mode will erase the device data if the wrong password is entered more than the allowed limit. If no additional device is linked to this account, a new Mode account must be created. You can set the number of unlock attempts before the data is deleted.
- Access your ‘Settings’ screen and tap on ‘Security’.
- Choose your maximum password attempts in the drop-down under ‘Max. Password Attempts’.
C. LOCK AFTER INACTIVITY
To enhance security on your Mode app, you can set your app to lock itself after a set time of inactivity.
- Access your app ‘Settings’ by tapping on your avatar logo.
- Under ‘Security’, choose the time you wish to set for the Mode app to lock due to inactivity in the drop-down under ‘Lock After Inactivity’.
D. ADVANCED BRUTE FORCE PROTECTION
Advanced brute force protection allows you to create and split your password encryption key into 2 pieces; meaning one half will be stored on your Mode app and the other on our Mode servers for total protection of your data at rest. You can enhance your password security by toggling ON Advanced Brute Force.
- Access your app ‘Settings’ by clicking on your avatar icon.
- In ‘Security’, toggle ON/OFF under ‘Advanced Brute Force Protection (Composite Key)’.

- Tap on ‘Change Password’ and follow the steps to edit and/or update your password.

- Go to your ‘Settings’ and tap on ‘Security’.
- Tap on ‘Max. Password Attempts’ and select your maximum password attempts in the pop-up menu.

To enhance security on your Mode app, you can set your app to lock itself after a set time of inactivity.
- Access your app ‘Settings’ and tap on ‘Security’.
- Tap on ‘Lock After Inactivity’ and select the time you wish to set for the Mode app to lock due to inactivity using the pop-up menu.
